Almost certainly because what you wore before wasn't solid copper.

The vast majority of copper jewelry sold online is copper-plated: a thin layer over a base metal, which means there's almost no real copper contact with your skin.

Every piece in our collection is 100% pure copper, through and through. No plating, no base metal, no coatings. The difference between solid and plated copper against your skin matters, and most people notice it.

The other factor is consistency: pure copper is meant to be worn daily, not now and then. Wear it every day for a month before you decide.

Pure copper is very easy to care for:

• Wear it often. Daily contact with your skin keeps its natural tone.
• To bring back the shine, rub it with a soft cloth or a little lemon and salt, rinse with fresh water and dry it well.
• Store it in a dry place when you're not wearing it.

Over time, copper develops a natural patina. It isn't damage: it's real metal aging with you.

I've been asked this question for 40 years. Here's what I know:

Copper is an essential mineral the human body genuinely needs, and wearing it against the skin is a practice thousands of years older than modern medicine.

I've never promised anyone anything. What I can tell you is that the people who came to me at 55, 60 or 65 keep coming back, year after year, decade after decade, without me having to explain why.

Call it placebo or not, the people who wear my copper noticed something they want to keep noticing. That's all I've ever needed to know.

Formal clinical studies have shown mixed results, and I won't pretend otherwise.

What I will say is this: copper has been worn against human skin for more than 3,000 years in practically every civilization in the world. Roman soldiers. Ayurvedic healers. Native American artisans. Generations of women who passed it down to their daughters, and they to theirs.

They weren't running double-blind trials. They wore what their grandmothers wore.

My customers aren't scientists either: they're simply people who had already tried everything else.

Yes, you can.

Pure copper is naturally durable: fishermen, farmers and laborers have worn it through every kind of weather and water for centuries.

That said, a few things are worth knowing:

• Salt water and chlorine speed up the patina: your piece will darken and age faster than if you wear it dry.
• This isn't damage. It's simply copper reacting to its environment, the way real metal does.
• Prolonged or repeated exposure to pool chlorine can affect the surface finish over time.

If you'd rather keep the original shine, rinse the piece with fresh water after swimming and pat it dry. Otherwise, wear it freely. It's made to be lived in, not kept in a drawer.

Copper is a base metal, yes.

What you're paying for is 100% pure material, worked by hand, piece by piece, and a standard we've never compromised on.

We keep full control over every piece in this collection because we refuse to cut quality to make more. No mass production. No plating. No coatings.

Every piece is shaped, engraved and finished by hand. When they're gone, there won't be more.

You can buy a copper-plated bracelet for a few dollars anywhere. This is something else.
